It’s safe to say we’ve seen our fair share of lodging web sites. After all, we’re not just an inn directory – we are also a full service web design, hosting and advertising company. So we understand a little something about design simplicity and ease of use when it comes to web sites. So when we see a site that is really done well, we say “Bravo!” because it isn’t always easy to achieve. You really need the right balance of text, images, and information in order to capture your target audience before they click away to some other site. Then of course there is optimization, but that’s a whole other ball of wax and I am blogging about design, not search engines. So, I’ve compiled a list of a handful of our Charming Country Inns Members who have really done well in the web design department (in no particular order):
· The Albatross Hotel in Ocean Grove, NJ – User friendly, with an artistic flare. Less is more for this historic seaside hotel.
· Sans Souci Euro Inn & Cottages in New Buffalo, MI – Eye pleasing design with beautiful imagery.
· Farmer’s Guest House in Galena, IL – Colorful images stand out in this semi-retro themed site.
· Amelia Island Williams House on Amelia Island, FL – If a site were to ever be able to beam me up, I’d visit this one first!
· Inn at Harbor Hill Marina in Niantic, CT – Crisp, clean design that does a great job in catching the eye and informing the visitor.
· Queen Anne B&B Inn in Denver, CO – Taking great photography one step further and creating stylish web design.
· Brewery Gulch Inn in Mendocino, CA – Color schemes can go a long way with a website, and this one really uses them well.
