For our economy, the last two weeks have been a roller coaster ride for many Americans.  Add to it the hotly contested race for President and you have a recipe for mass meltdown.  Gas prices aren't any better than they've been for months, health care costs are continuing to rise and most Americans are about to feel the proverbial slap in the face that they've been told is coming in the form of their first seasonal heating bills.  Everyone is talking "Recession, Depression" and, well, it is depressing.

It's so close, the leaves are falling just in anticipation.  Foliage, that is.  Here is PA we have had unseasonably cool weather and my backyard is already showing signs that the trees have been tricked.  Yup, just the other day my 5 year old son asked if I could rake him a leaf pile.  Rake?  It's mid-August!!

Staying at an inn or B&B is much different from staying at a run-of-the-mill hotel or resort.  The people who own and/or operate the B&B have invested an unfathomable amount of money, time and energy in ensuring that you are to stay comfortably, feel as at home and relaxed as possible, are fed well and will want to return again.  Not only that, but they are welcoming you in their HOME.  Although they might be strangers, you should treat your innkeepers as you would someone in your family who has you as a guest.  We came up with a few guidelines for ensuring that you have a wonderful time during your next B&B stay:

One of the greatest things about traveling and staying at Inns and B&Bs are the personal touches that you simply do not get at a hotel or large resort. A warm and personal welcome from the innkeeper upon your arrival; being shown to your room and getting help with your luggage; offerings of cozy sitting areas, picturesque gardens and rambling front porches - - all for your relaxation during your stay.

Memorial Day weekend is coming up quickly.  Even with the war in Iraq, I think a lot of us have a tendency to forget that this is not a "BBQ holiday".  It is a holiday reserved for honoring those who have, and are now serving our great country.  It is important that we not just recognize these great men and women who stand up for our freedom, but let them know that we support them always.
