St. Joseph Institute is a small mountain resort located in Central Pennsylvania, mid-way between Altoona and State College, that opened in May 2005. Log construction, massive beams and expansive windows create a unique and warm setting. The 207 acres include several miles of walking trails, gazebos with magnificent views and recreation facilities that include a gym, tennis, volleyball, basketball, shuffle board and a children's playground.
The Laurel Wellness Center is the largest spa and wellness facility in the region, with an indoor walking track, exercise facilities, saunas, resistance pool, hot tub and treatment rooms where the professional staff 60 relaxing spa treatments and healing therapies.
The dining room specializes in tasty, nutritious meals. Food allergiess and special diets (e.g. gluten free) can be accomodated. There are indoor lounges, a library, billiard room and many sitting areas. The Sycamore Lodge has 11 bedrooms and the Appalachian Lodge includes a two bedroom suite and 3 comfortable guest rooms. Our newest addition is the Spruce Lodge with two 1 bedroom suites and 4 deluxe rooms, all with private bath.
