The Simmons Homestead Inn is the only Bed & Breakfast Inn in Hyannis Port and truly reflects the spirit of old Cape Cod. The entire house has been designed to provide a warm, friendly, relaxing, and romantic atmosphere. The Inn is situated where you can wander the Cape, enjoy the beach, or take a day trip to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard.
Built in the 1800 - 1820 range the Simmons Homestead Inn was a private estate until 1987 when it was restored and converted into a wonderful country inn. The house is historically significant, but the interior and furnishings have added a sense of fun and relaxation.
Amenities
The Simmons Homestead Inn hosts a social hour where you can meet the other guests and simply sit back and enjoy a mug or two of wine. Sit around the huge porches in the summer and around the roaring fire in the common room in the cooler months. There is a large billiard room for guests. The Innkeeper hosts a single malt scotch "Tasting Hour" week nights during the cooler months. He looks at it both as a research project, and the fact he hates to drink alone.
Another very good reason to visit the Inn is to wander through Bill's collection of 50 red classic sports cars from the '50s to the '80s. They are housed in a Museum behind the Inn called TOAD HALL in honor of the guy in The Wind in the Willows who also loved red cars. This alone is worth the trip to the Cape and the Simmons Homestead.
The Inn has two sheds full of 10 speed mountain bikes for youths and adults, bike racks for your car, fishing gear, beach chairs and towels, coolers, hair dryers, irons and other essentials you may have forgotten. Also available are a hot tub, relaxing porches and hammocks, and a free lending library. Extra phones and modem hookups, and fax machines are available.
